 Head of International Disputes Practice, LEVEL Legal Services

Denis Almakaev heads LEVEL Legal Services' International Litigation practice. He is admitted to practice in Russia, England and Wales, the US (New York State) and Singapore (SICC). He specializes in international arbitration and proceedings related to the search for and the foreclosure against assets located abroad. Denis represents clients from different jurisdictions, such as England, France, the US, Switzerland, Cyprus, Luxembourg, Monaco, the Cayman Islands, Liechtenstein, Gibraltar and others.
 In addition to a higher legal education at Lomonosov Moscow State University and a Master's degree at Columbia University (New York), Denis graduated from the Academy of International Commercial Arbitration at the ICC (Paris) and is a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Arbitrators (London).

Dmitry has vast experience resolving international commercial and investment disputes (over 80 cases) under the rules of SIAC, ICC, SCC, LCIA, UNCITRAL and the ICAC of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He represents leading Russian and international companies operating in various industries in high-profile proceedings, with many of them becoming landmark precedent-setting cases for both Russian and international communities.

Edmund is the Managing Partner of Braddell Brothers LLP, Singapore’s second-oldest independent law practice, founded in 1883. He is admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor (Singapore) and Solicitor (England & Wales).  Having over 26 years’ experience as arbitration and litigation counsel, Edmund’s diverse practice includes commercial and corporate disputes, breaches of confidence, defamation, energy and natural resources, medical law, media and telecommunications, as well as pre-emptive relief and injunctions.

Charis TAN

Charis is a partner at Peter & Kim in Singapore, specialising in international commercial and investment treaty arbitration and public international law.


She is admitted in three jurisdictions (Singapore, England & Wales and New York) and her experience includes investment and commercial arbitrations under the rules of major arbitration institutions, including ICSID, ICC, SIAC, HKIAC, KCAB and SCC, as well as ad hoc proceedings under UNCITRAL Rules. Charis is appointed as Counsel and Arbitrator in both commercial arbitration and State-to-State cases.

Francis XAVIER

Francis Xavier has 34 years of legal practice and is actively involved in cross-border commercial disputes in the areas of corporate, banking, property financial and investment related claims. He has appeared as counsel and acted as arbitrator (both party appointed and presiding) in a large number of arbitrations (both ad hoc and administered including by ICSID, ICC, SIAC, AIAC, ICA, HKIAC, BANI and PCA). Francis is a Chartered Arbitrator and has acted for a number of parties in treaty disputes (including several Asian governments). He is presently assisting several governments in setting up their international arbitration framework.
